STORY REVEALED
ONCE UPON A TIME, there was a little girl. Curly hair, red cheeks and the great curiosity of a child. She was interested in many things, she was discovering the world, but most of all, SHE WANTED TO PEEK INTO EVERY SINGLE HOUSE, just to see all those rooms, the furniture, the views. To see the life behind the walls.
She was so excited every time she went to visit somebody with her family, somewhere she had never been to before. WHAT’S BEHIND THAT DOOR, where do they sleep, what’s the furniture like… She was just so curious! Of course, mostly she wasn’t able to peek inside, so she used her imagination and DREW SPACES SHE HAD NEVER REALLY SEEN IN HER MIND. She was building houses with LEGO dices and RENOVATED HER ROOM over and over again. When she was a bit older, she played The Sims, but just so she could build and equip houses.
If she ever came across a magazine or a book with photos of houses and interiors, she was totally overwhelmed with joy. Her parents were subscribed to a newspaper that had come along with a magazine entitled Delo in dom (eng. Work and home) once a month (only once a month, what a pity!). When the newspaper arrived in their mailbox she grabbed the magazine and FLIPPED IT THROUGH TO THE PAGE “ARCHITECT ADVISES”. She read it all repeatedly and rigorously evaluated the proposed solution (yup, at that age she certainly knew more than much more experienced architects ;). SHE DESPERATELY WANTED TO BE THAT ARCHITECT. She wanted to be able to prepare floor plans and space solutions. She didn’t know that her dream will come true and that she will BE SOLVING ARCHITECTURAL / INTERIOR DESIGN ISSUES FOR THE READERS of that same magazine.
But back to this girl’s childhood. She had outstanding grades in elementary school. In secondary school, most of the time, she was dealing with those “love butterflies” and she was definitely much less interested in the school. After high school graduation, she enrolled in college. She wanted to study architecture, but someone that was very close to her said, that this study isn’t for her, that she will not pass the entrance exams and that study is extremely difficult. She believed and GAVE UP ARCHITECTURE STUDY BEFORE SHE EVEN TRIED.
The sequel to the story will be featured in the next post “Hello. I am your designer. 2|2.”
Stay curious,
