YOUR INSPIRATION FOR A GORGEOUS SEASONAL HOME REFRESH
“It’s Wednesday afternoon. You are on your way home. It is cold and it is slowly getting dark. As you step through the home door, you are greeted by the smell of cinnamon. You take off your shoes and your sweater. You put tea water on the stove. In the meantime, you look for warm socks and that gorgeous quilt you bought last time. You step to the window and watch the leaves fall slowly from the trees. It’s autumn. Good thing you cleaned the windows and you can enjoy the view now. The water boiling on the stove wakes you up from daydreaming. You make tea. You light the candles and roll yourself into a rocking chair with a book in one hand and a blanket in the other. By the way, you fix the pamper grass in a brown glass vase. You don’t have a fireplace, but you’re thinking of putting some firewood on the shelf to conjure up that autumn vibe. Yeah, you could do that. In the bedroom, you will use dry branches or a dried bouquet for decoration. Thanks to pumpkins, corn, and chestnuts in a clay pot, the kitchen already has a real autumn atmosphere. Thinking about how you and your friends will enjoy by a garden fire, mulled wine, and maybe even hot chocolate tomorrow evening. Well, autumn is not so bad after all.”
Misty mornings. Cooler temperatures. Wind. Dark. Fog. Colored canopy and rustling of leaves. This is autumn and the interiors are calling for a warm, cozy disguise. At the same time, associations like hygee, tea, hot chocolate, bubble bath, books, movies, sweater weather, wool socks, blankets… arise.
So, how to bring our homes into line with the arrival of autumn?

Rather than redesign an entire room, focus on a particular piece that tells the story – it can be a statement piece of furniture, a rug, or a thoughtful decoration.
1 | FURNITURE
#comfortable
Create a furniture layout that invites you to cuddle, read a good book, hang out with friends and family. Use soft furnishings, armchair, rocking chair or create a nook. Also, grandmillennial is in this year and perfect for this season (hm, what about some rocking Windsor chair?) .
2 | SEASONAL COLOR PALETTE
Keep your color wheel under control!
Reds, golds, oranges, yellows are a signature of the season. But autumnal colors are incredibly rich, bold and are screaming for attention. Use them in a more subtle way. You can:
_ cool down with blue (blue is in!), green, grey, black, white
_ use it for accents only (e.g. burnt orange armchair)
_ use it for accents only (e.g. burnt orange armchair)
_ unsaturate the colors (lighter shades, earthy and brown tones can work elegantly)
_ go with darker tones of oranges, rusts, sage greens
_ use darker colors to create a moody atmosphere
_ select colors that complement each other and don’t compete for attention
3 | MAKE IT LOOK AND FEEL WARM AND SOFT
Key words: fabrics and layering .
Autumn is great for cozy and heavier fabrics, throws, and blankets. You can bring that autumn feeling with cushions, beddings, rugs, and even textile wall art. Velvet and bouclé (teddy bear fabric) are especially popular in the colder months.
4 | MATERIALS AND PATTERNS
Hint: Find inspiration in fashion .
When choosing autumn accents, choose items made from wood (especially walnut) and other natural materials, iron and other metals, clay, wool, and (cammel) leather.
However, when choosing patterns, you can’t go wrong with a tartan (plaid) pattern, patterns of leaves and branches (printed textiles, decor).
5 | DECORATIONS
Advice: Bring from nature.
Here are some (decorative) elements that will make it easier for you to conjure up an autumn vibe in your home.
_ seasonal food,
_ pampas grass, wheat sheaves,
_ autumn flower bouquet or dried flowers,
_ branches,
_ wood, firewoods (even if you don’t have a fireplace),
_ lanterns, scented candles (cinnamon, honey…), candle holders,
_ dimmable lamps,
_ painting or prints with autumn motives/vibes/colors,
_ metallic accessories,
_ baskets, trays.
6 | CONNECT WITH NATURE
Maybe you’re blessed with a view of changing nature. Wipe down the windows and bring in the beautiful autumnal colors (also, days are getting shorter, clean the windows to bring the light in).
Go out. Take blankets with you, light a fire in the garden fireplace, and simply enjoy the sunny afternoons and magical evenings.
Autumn is not so bad after all.
