Type of object: Room in a family house
Type of project: Renovation
Year of design: 2020
It often happens that families need “just one more room”. The challenge of this project was to turn one room into a room for two children. The older girl is 8 years old, while the younger boy has not reached the age of two. So, at the moment, they have very different needs – the younger one needs an afternoon rest and he also goes to bed early. The girl, on the other hand, needs peace to do home school work. At the same time, she wants to hide some of her things from her curious brother.
So we divided the room with only one door, into three parts. Common – entrance area, space for boy and space for a girl. Space is divided by a wall with a large interior window, the purpose of which is to open and connect the space as much as possible while providing intimacy to the small owners. They can, when needed, use a curtain to create an intimate corner. Both spaces are separated from the common space by sliding doors, which are open most of the day.
We chose white as the base and complemented it with some vibrant colors. With all the colorful toys and other items, the room will become a colorful but tidy space.
